CTC Authorizes Nearly $690 Million to Accelerate Additional Transportation Projects

Message from Malcolm Dougherty, Director, Caltrans

Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to share with you a news release put out by Caltrans today announcing 32 transportation projects that will now have their delivery accelerated thanks to anticipated funding from Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. The California Transportation Commission (CTC) authorized nearly $690 million in funding to start delivering these projects sooner, meaning we can bump up the timeline to start all stages of these projects, from environmental studies to construction.

SB 1 is a historic opportunity for all of us—state, regional and local levels—to significantly invest in this state’s transportation infrastructure. Even though revenues from the legislation are not set to begin flowing in until November, the bill is already starting to make its mark.

You can find this release at http://www.dot.ca.gov/paffairs/pr/2017/prs/17pr082.html
