Tuesday, June 24
10:00am to noon PT

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) invites you to register for and attend the next webinar in the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) webinar series, titled HSIP Applications of Probe Data, Safety Surrogates, and AI.

PURPOSE
Recent advances in safety data sources and analysis techniques have improved the ability of transportation agencies to plan, implement, and evaluate highway safety improvements. This webinar will feature noteworthy applications of probe data, safety surrogate data, and artificial intelligence to improve safety on public roadways.

PRESENTERS

Ron Knezevich, Georgia DOT will present on their use of video data collection and safety surrogates, including Post-Encroachment Time, Time-to-Collision, and Pedestrian Compliance, to assess Vulnerable Road User (VRU) risk and the effectiveness of VRU countermeasures.
Jeff Roecker, Pennsylvania DOT and Shannon Warchol, Kittelson & Associates will co-present on their SMART Intersections pilot program, which used video data, AI, and Post-Encroachment Time to identify vehicle pedestrian critical events and human-review process to confirm the occurrence of a conflict.
