Call for Projects: Tribal Transportation Program Safety Fund

Application Deadline: January 15, 2026

FHWA is now accepting applications for the 2026 Tribal Transportation Program Safety Fund (TTPSF). These competitive funds support projects that reduce transportation fatalities and serious injuries in Indian Country. For a complete list of eligible projects for the TTP Safety Fund, visit the TTP webpage.

Transportation fatalities and injuries severely impact the quality of life in Indian country. Each year under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA, Public Law 117-58), 4% of the available Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) funds are set aside to address transportation safety issues identified by federally recognized Indian tribes through a competitive, discretionary program. Projects are chosen whose outcomes will reduce fatal and serious injuries in transportation related incidents, such as motor vehicle crashes.

Eligible applicants may submit multiple applications by following these steps for each project:

  1. Review the TTP Safety Fund Notice of Funding Opportunity Amendment No. 2.
  2. Complete an Application Form.
  3. Review the TTPSF Application Guide (PDF Format) (DOCX Format) to find a project narrative template.
  4. Submit applications by email attachment to TTPSF@DOT.gov. If your application is too large to send by email, please request an upload link. FHWA can only receive emails under 24MB.
