Innovation Expo 2020

Caltrans is hosting its first Statewide Innovation Expo on November 16 – 20, 2020.  The conference will be a virtual 5-day event and will consist of morning informational emails and afternoon sessions from 1pm to 4pm daily, including keynote speakers and live presentations and demonstrations – all focused on innovation and Caltrans 5 priorities: Innovation, Safety, Modality, Efficiency and Partnerships.

We are soliciting for presentations and exhibition material to showcase at the conference during our live sessions and in our virtual exhibit hall.  If you have been involved with developing and/or implementing an innovative idea with Caltrans, please fill out and submit the presentation submission form by September 11, 2020.

These presentations will be virtual but live and include 20 to 30-minute presentations with 15-minute Q&A periods.  The target audience is Caltrans staff involved or interested in innovation, as well as external partners such as local agencies, businesses, consultants, FHWA, and academia.  We anticipate a large virtual crowd. If you prefer not to present live during the conference, there is also an option to submit a whitepaper, poster, video or other media to include in our virtual conference exhibit hall. You may select one or both options.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Complete this presentation submission form by September 11, 2020 describing an innovative project, process or activity you are working on now or have worked on (in partnership with Caltrans), including innovation fairs and activities. Include any attachments to help explain your innovation.
    • If willing to present, select that option and be available to present live via WebEx during the week of November 16th – 20th.  You will be designated a facilitator to handle the technical event setup and manage the chat box/Q&A.
    • If electing to participate in the exhibit hall, select that option. You may submit multiple innovations.

There will be a briefing session for all presenters in September to share conference structure, presentation formats, and to answer any questions.  If you need additional accommodations to attend or present at this virtual event, please let us know. Final presentations and exhibit hall submittals are not due until late October.

Please fill out the online submission form by September 11, 2020.
