ADA Transition Plan Implementation for Local Public Agencies

INFORMATION: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Civil Rights is hosting a virtual peer exchange focused on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan implementation for Local Public Agencies (LPAs). This new four-part webinar series will focus on noteworthy practices of various stakeholders to support the efforts of LPAs to implement their transition plans and comply with ADA requirements. The first webinar is entitled State DOT Support of LPA Transition Plan Implementation. The presenters will be Margaret Mahler, ADA Compliance Officer, Tennessee DOT, Zachary Veaner, Highway State Engineer and ADA Coordinator, Massachusetts DOT, and Lyris Liautaud, Assistant State Highway Design Engineer, Massachusetts DOT. This will be held on Wednesday, June 16, from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM PDT.

PURPOSE: Our goal is to provide a forum for LPAs and other organizations to share lessons learned and innovative approaches to LPA transition plan implementation with each other. Additionally, FHWA Headquarters Civil Rights will collect best practices to publish a compilation of these practices that can be used as a tool by State DOTs, Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), and LPAs to improve their implementation efforts to support ADA compliance and maximize accessibility.

DATE: The first webinar will take place on June 16. The other webinars are scheduled for: June 30, July 14, and July 21. All webinars are scheduled from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM PDT.

REGISTRATION: Attached below is the brochure with live registration links. Aside from employees engaged in civil rights, planners and engineers are encouraged to attend as well.
