Recently, Caltrans has approved the standard special provision (SSP 6-1.04_D09-12-22) regarding the new Buy America requirements, which will be required on Federal-aid projects submitted for E76 approval after
November 9, 2022. The pdf documents below contain instructions on the SSPs usage as well as specific paragraph edits. A condensed version of this specification (6-1.04_condensed) is also available to be used without any approved FHWA Buy America waivers for a specific project. There is a potential for additional changes as federal guidance or requirements are amended prior to the implementation of the requirement starting on November 10, 2022.
