2D Hydraulic Modeling Users Forum 2023

How to Generate an Accurate and Efficient Mesh
January 19, 2023
10:00-11:30 am PT

We will present best practices and tools for generating a mesh that accurately represents the terrain and hydraulic controls while still resulting in the most efficient simulation times. It is important to compare a mesh with the original terrain in order to assess how well it represents the terrain and whether or not key hydraulic controls are adequately captured. The use of breaklines to represent hydraulic controls and variable mesh resolution will be discussed, including an overview of tools that are available in the SMS package to evaluate the accuracy of a mesh.
