FHWA Mobile Asphalt Technology Center & Caltrans Free Asphalt Pavement Workshops

The Mobile Asphalt Technology Center (MATC) is coming to Northern and Southern California to provide two free events for the asphalt community as a follow-up to MATC on-site visits in early 2023. There are two workshops at both Northern and Southern California, for different audiences, see the following full details or access the attached pdfs below.

Asphalt Pavements 101
• Southern California – January 30, 2024 – Free workshop, registration required!
• Northern California – February 13, 2024 – Free workshop, registration required!
8:00 am – 4:00 pm, each date

The free Asphalt Pavements 101 workshop is designed for those who are newer to the asphalt community or who want to broaden their knowledge for all facets of asphalt paving. The one-day workshop will cover asphalt materials, production, placement, compaction, and evaluation.


Quality in the Asphalt Paving Process
• Southern California – January 31 – February 1, 2024
• Northern California – February 14-15, 2024
8:00 am – 4:00 pm, each day

The interactive two-day training will cover the methods, practices, and potential benefits of a quality focused asphalt paving program, which increase the longevity of asphalt pavements. Participants will observe the impact of applying practices that can aid in resolving State-specific issues and concerns with asphalt materials and construction.

  1. I tried registering 2 of my Inyo County Road employees for the Asphalt 101 training on Jan 30th and never received a confirmation email. Please advise!! We need to have a confirmation email, please.
