AWPA Meeting – New Construction General Permit Impacts

American Public Works Association (APWA) – Sacramento Chapter
The Statewide National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Construction Stormwater General Permit was adopted on September 8, 2022, and will become effective on September 1, 2023. The newly adopted permit addresses stormwater from construction activities on sites that disturb one or more acres of land. The new permit includes implementation requirements for watersheds with Total Maximum Daily Loads, dewatering, and passive treatment application among many other topics.

Amy Kronson is a Senior Environmental Scientist at the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), one of six branches of the California Environmental Protection Agency. The SWRCB’s mission is to preserve, enhance, and restore the quality of California’s water resources and drinking water for the protection of the environment, public health, and all beneficial uses, and to ensure proper water resource allocation and efficient use, for the benefit of present and future generations.
