Caltrans Division of Local Assistance is kicking off a new round of Earmark Repurposing. To be eligible for the 2023 cycle of repurposing, an earmark must have been:
- designated anytime
- eligible for the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program
- within 25 miles of the original earmark location;
- and either:
– Less than 10 percent of earmark funds obligated, or
– Final vouchered and closed if more than 10 percent earmark funds are obligated.
To help implement this Earmark Repurposing process, Caltrans has posted lists of eligible projects, FAQs, and repurposing instructions on Caltrans’ 2023 Earmark Repurposing webpage.
Caltrans received the guidance late and only has eight (8) days to process those Earmark Repurposing projects. Please send any Earmark Repurposing requests to Bill Huang by August 25, 2023.
